hernandezDr. Hernández is a Professor of World Cultures and Literatures and Director of Jewish Studies at the University of Houston.  She has a PhD from Rice University in Cultural Anthropology.  Her publications include three books, Delirio:  The Fantastic, the Demonic, and the Reel.  The Buried History of Nuevo León (University of Texas Press, 2002), Cemeteries of Ambivalent Desire: Unearthing Deep South Narratives from a Texas Graveyard (Texas A&M University Press, 2008), and The Virgin of Guadalupe and the Conversos:  Uncovering Hidden Influences fro Spain to México (Rutgers University Press, forthcoming, July 2014).
